“Baby?” Miranda whispered, gently shaking Jessica from her slumber. “Baby, I’m gonna talk to Kyle now, are you coming or do you want to keep sleeping?”

Jessica sat up sharply, her eyes wide, “Of course I’m coming!”

She sighed in relief, falling back against the pillows and hugging Jessica tightly. “Okay, I’m just gonna grab our robes then.” She crawled out of bed and pulled two large, fluffy robes from the closet, one hot pink and the other a bright shade of lavender. She pulled on the shorter, lavender one before handing the fluffy pink one to Jessica.

Jessica bit back laughter as she looked at Miranda in the fuzzy, lavender robe. “Really, Miranda? … Really?”

“Shut up, they’re comfy. Put yours on,” she instructed, scowling with fake anger as she tied the equally poofy matching sash. Jessica shook her head, sighing, before standing up and pulling on the obnoxious pink robe Miranda had handed her. The older woman smiled, nodding, “See? Comfy, right? And warm.”

Jessica pulled the shorter woman into a tight embrace, leaning down to whisper in her ear, “I can think of better ways to stay warm.”

Miranda looked up at her and winked, her fingers slipping past the bright, fuzzy pink material to graze Jessica’s bare skin. “Can you, now? You’ll have to teach me later cause it gets awfully cold in New York in winter.”

Jessica smiled, leaning down and covering her lover’s plump lips with her own, “I look forward to it.”

Miranda closed her eyes and leaned against the younger woman, her head easily resting just below the taller woman’s chin. She placed a light, feathery kiss on the hollow of Jessica’s throat as her fingers worked between them, tying the bright pink sash before entwining their fingers and leading her to the door. “Come on, babe.”

“These robes are heinous. Why did you buy them?” Jessica whined, dragging slowly behind.

“Cause they’re cute and comfy,” she answered. She flashed a smile over her shoulder, “And you look adorable!”

Jessica heaved a sigh and followed dutifully.

“Kyle?” Miranda whispered, cracking the door open and peeking out to look at the couch where her husband was laying, still asleep. “Okay, he’s still asleep. I’m gonna grab him some Tylenol and some water, and then I’ll wake him up. You waiting here?”

“Why are you still taking care of him?” Jessica asked, confusion etched in her features.

“I-I-” She shrugged, “I don’t know. I’m Italian. It’s in my blood.”

“So is being vindictive and holding a grudge. But that, you fail at,” she mumbled irritably.

Miranda snickered, “Not true. Ask some of my coworkers. But that’s beside the point. I’m gonna run to the kitchen. Are you staying here or coming?”

Jessica heaved another sigh, plopping down in the chair opposite Kyle’s sleeping form, “I’ll wait here.”

Miranda nodded once before disappearing into the kitchen. She returned moments later with a glass of ice water in one hand and two pills in the other. She placed the glass of water on the end table near Kyle’s head, the pills beside it, before squatting in front of him and lightly running her fingers through his hair.
